Red Hare Brewing & Distilling

Hello again craft beer enthusiast and thank you for joining me today at Beers with Brandon while we review another Georgia favorite, Red Hare Brewing Company conveniently located at 1998 Delk Industrial Blvd SE, Marietta, GA. The company has an additional location named Still on the Square where they recently opened their distillery making their own rum, gin, and vodka partnered with Mojitos, a Cuban American inspired bistro located at 29 W Park Square, Marietta GA.  Red Hare was originally founded by friends Roger Davis and Bobby Thomas on Labor Day 2011, roughly two years after they began brewing together in Roger's basement which seems to be the start up for many breweries I have covered so far. Respect where it's due though because these two men were able to take their small 15-gallon operation and turn it into the 15,000 square foot warehouse with a 40-barrel capacity that it is today. They were also the first Georgia based craft brewery to can their beer and have won numerous medals in the U.S. Open Beer Championship. Starting out their generated sales were primarily made in the local Atlanta region, now they have expanded their reach to cover most of the Southeast from Florida to Tennessee, a true testament to what you can accomplish with hard work and believing in yourselves. Currently, Red Hare isn't offering any special events or social gatherings but the do however provide brewery tours to show patrons their process of making beers and are available upon request and availability which can be found online.

When it comes to beers Red Hare provides seven year round drafts and five to six seasonal brews along with their in house made root beer and grapefruit soda. My favorite beer from this company is their Tangerine SPF 50/50 Indian Pale Radler with a relatively low ABV of 4.2%. Drinking this beer doesn't feel as though you are having an IPA because the bitter taste is in strong competition with the sweetness of the tangerine and won't make you feel overly full after having a few. Similar to the Grapefruit SPF this drink is a blend of their Gangway IPA and house made juice soda. Both of these fruity choices will quench your thirst with their rejuvenating citrus flavors without being too sweet or tart. An interesting option for those brave beer drinkers up for the challenge is the Sweet Heat IPA sitting at 6.25% ABV. This particular beverage is brewed like most of their beers with fruity essence of mangos and pineapples but comes with a spicy kick at the end brought on by the ghost peppers infused in the beer. This is a classic battle of sweet and heat in every sip that leaves a spicy feel on the drinker's tongue and is not for the weak at heart.
