New Realm Brewing Company

Hello yet again fellow beer connoisseurs and welcome back to another edition of Beers with Brandon. Our last two posts covered a trip to Colorado but for today we are bringing it right back to the heart of Georgia with New Realm Brewing. Located at 550 Somerset Terrace NE #101, Atlanta, GA this local hot spot has been a staple in the Atlanta community since its founding in 2016 by Carey Falcone, Bob Powers, and Brewmaster Mitch Steele. This location was the first they established and contains a 25 hectoliter brewhouse, rooftop patio, 3000 square-foot restaurant downstairs, and beer garden. Two years later they opened an additional brewing facility and taproom in Virginia Beach, VA and have plans in mind to expand further in Georgia with a new location in Savannah. The name New Realm stems from their philosophy of diving into a new way of thinking and brewing and throwing out the traditional ways brewing is done with the pursuit to never become stagnant in any aspect of their business. Like many other breweries New Realm offers a menu full of bar food favorites like burgers, sandwiches, and wood-fired pizzas. I have frequented this location many times and have always enjoyed the atmosphere that accompanies their fantastic draft beers although I have yet to try their food. From the rooftop patio patrons can enjoy the fresh air while being treated to the breathtaking views of the city and is truly a sight to see when the sun is setting casting a vibrant orange backdrop resting behind the towering skyscrapers of Atlanta.

Now if the scenery and food options weren't enough to sell you on making a visit to this fabulous brew house the craft beers will certainly tip the scales. A personal favorite of mine happens to be the Hazy Like a Fox IPA with double dried El Dorado and Azacca hops accompanied by strong tangerine and pineapple flavors and aromas. Brewed with malt, oats, and wheat this beverage comes out of the tap with a light gold coloring and modest haze sitting at 6.5% ABV. There is definitely a smooth finish of tangerine and orange that help to downplay the bitterness of those hops. If you're a fan of Hazy IPA's like myself but are searching for something stronger the Hazy Like an Ox double IPA might just be the thing to knock you off your feet with a monstrous ABV of 9%. Brewed similarly to the Hazy like a Fox and released in 2020 this solid brew gives off similar hints of orange but also the aromas of pineapple and lemon hops. Another crowd pleaser and part of their core menu is the Hoptropolis American IPA standing strong at 6.5%. An interesting combination of four different hops fused with ample amounts of pear, pineapple, and peaches all come together to form a golden coloring with a crisp fruity taste followed by a balanced finish and lasting bitterness. I hope you all enjoyed this segment of Beers with Brandon and I will see you back here next time. Cheers!
