Pontoon Brewing Company

Hello again beer enthusiast's and welcome back to the final edition of Beers with Brandon for the season. In order to end this series on a high note I thought it would be nice to take a trip down to Sandy Springs, GA and visit a relatively new member to the craft beer scene Pontoon Brewing. Initially opened in December 2017 this paradise was founded by a group of passionate friends and beer aficionados who got together over their love of beer and the escaping this stressful world through the "Pontoon Lifestyle" where the company got their name. This lifestyle is a reference to the slow-moving pontoon boats that are perfect for those days where you just want to sit back while enjoying a drink with your friends and getting lost in the good times on the water. From their humble beginnings they have since grown into a major hub for beer lovers in the Atlanta area with their layback vibes and lip-smacking brews. Located at 8601 Dunwoody Place it conveniently places them next ...

New Realm Brewing Company

Hello yet again fellow beer connoisseurs and welcome back to another edition of Beers with Brandon. Our last two posts covered a trip to Colorado but for today we are bringing it right back to the heart of Georgia with New Realm Brewing. Located at 550 Somerset Terrace NE #101, Atlanta, GA this local hot spot has been a staple in the Atlanta community since its founding in 2016 by Carey Falcone, Bob Powers, and Brewmaster Mitch Steele. This location was the first they established and contains a 25 hectoliter brewhouse, rooftop patio, 3000 square-foot restaurant downstairs, and beer garden. Two years later they opened an additional brewing facility and taproom in Virginia Beach, VA and have plans in mind to expand further in Georgia with a new location in Savannah. The name New Realm stems from their philosophy of diving into a new way of thinking and brewing and throwing out the traditional ways brewing is done with the pursuit to never become stagnant in any aspect ...

Broken Compass Brewing

Good afternoon beer buds and welcome to the second and final edition of this Beers with Brandon segment reviewing some breweries I had the pleasure of visiting while on a recent trip to Colorado. A few days into our trip we found ourselves walking the streets of downtown Breckenridge taking in the beautiful scenery and mountain views that words just wouldn't do justice when we had the sudden urge to relax and warm up inside while enjoying a frosty beer thankfully, we were able to find refuge in the Broken Compass taproom. Located near the end of downtown Main Street this brewhouse was founded on May 30th, 2014 when owners Jolene and Jason Ford had finally made their dreams come true. Since it's humble origins as a tiny taproom it has grown over the past seven years into one of the must stop destinations in Breckenridge for both locals and tourists alike. While they do not serve food at this brewery there is really no need to with all the local restaurants and other ...

Blue Moon Brewing Company

Hello again beer lovers it's great to be back with you all on a very special double series of Beers with Brandon where we are going to take a step out of Georgia. For the next two reviews we will dive into look at some great breweries I recently visited on an adventure to the Rocky Mountains starting this week with the Blue Moon Brewing Company located in sunny Denver, Colorado. Upon leaving the airport my friends and I knew there was only one way to quench our insatiable thirst and that was with a refreshing and crisp Blue Moon. Founded in 1995 with the first brew being made at Coors Field this brand has since grown across the country into one of the most sought-after beers that provides a refreshed feeling after every sip. The brewery I had the pleasure of visiting was located in the River North Art District or RiNo of Denver, an area covered head to toe in decadent street art and known for its art galleries and concert halls setup in refurbished industrial...

Red Hare Brewing & Distilling

Hello again craft beer enthusiast and thank you for joining me today at Beers with Brandon while we review another Georgia favorite, Red Hare Brewing Company conveniently located at 1998 Delk Industrial Blvd SE, Marietta, GA. The company has an additional location named Still on the Square where they recently opened their distillery making their own rum, gin, and vodka partnered with Mojitos, a Cuban American inspired bistro located at 29 W Park Square, Marietta GA.  Red Hare was originally founded by friends Roger Davis and Bobby Thomas on Labor Day 2011, roughly two years after they began brewing together in Roger's basement which seems to be the start up for many breweries I have covered so far. Respect where it's due though because these two men were able to take their small 15-gallon operation and turn it into the 15,000 square foot warehouse with a 40-barrel capacity that it is today. They were also the first Georgia based craft brewery to can thei...

Gate City Brewery

Good day fellow hopheads! It is my pleasure to welcome you all the latest installment of Beers with Brandon where we have been exploring the realm of craft beers in the local Atlanta region. This week I thought it would be interesting to look closer at Gate City Brewing Co. located at 43 Magnolia Street Roswell, GA. This company was founded in 2015 by longtime friends Brian Borngesser and Pat Rains who had originally met roughly ten years ago and bonded over their shared love of home brewing and being active members in the Roswell community. Located at the center of Historic Roswell this two-story 3,000 square foot taproom which was formally two mechanics shops has grown into a vibrant business that offers up to twenty in-house crafted brews at any time. The name Gate City was taken from an old nickname for Atlanta, GA paying humble tribute to the early days of the city as a bustling hub for railroads heading all over the country for which the co-founders embod...

Scofflaw Brewing Co.

Hello again fellow beer buffs and welcome back to the latest installment of Beers with Brandon! I hope you have enjoyed the content so far because today we are going to look at Scofflaw Brewing Co. located at 1738 MacArthur Blvd NW, Atlanta, GA. This brewery was co-founded in August 2016 by former Wall Street executive Matt Shirah and renowned Brewmaster Travis Herman who bonded over their mutual love and respect for craft beers. What was once described as an amateur operation in the basement of Shiah's mother-in-law quickly grew into the 18,000 square foot facility they have now over the span of just two short years effectively doubling their output capacity. Despite being newer to the brewing industry when compared to other breweries in the area, Scofflaw had established themselves as one of the best new craft breweries in American during their first year of operations according to Beer Advocate and USA Today. Unlike other breweries I've talked abou...
